Kpop industries and their thoughts about RPers

gongchanchan1004:

[RUMOR] K-companies thoughts about roleplayers.

They don’t like the sound or idea of a roleplayer. The companies don’t think being a roleplayer will help their company grow. Instead would be bringing harm and bad impersonation of their idols.

Facebook, which is a well-known site for K-roleplayers is one of the site where the companies will be checking for the IP. Any accounts caught will be fined and bailed in jail. However, roleplayers who are 18 years under, the notice will be sent to their schools instead.

Imitating an idol will bring harm, false rumors and might be acting disrespectful to the fans. IP of the person who uses the real main Facebook account, they will find your location and Facebook will send a report mail to the cops in your country. So far, 34 roleplayers have been tracked and they were all under 16 years old, mostly from Singapore and Philippines.

How did they know ?
Sung Min Roh : If you go to Account settings, you go to security settings, then active sessions..Through IP, Facebook tracks all your IP from your Facebook activity sessions. You might not able to see your own IP, but the Facebook will allow the IP to show to the cop.

Okay…. We’re roleplayers. We aren’t the crazy fans that steal phone numbers, SS#, licence plates or try to get idols into accidents. We just simply have fun. We aren’t in it to ruin an image, we aren’t in it so we get take over the person’s life, and we sure as hell aren’t trying to hurt our idol’s images! We do this because certain people like to feel more connected to their idol and as a fellow roleplayer, never once have I done anything with intent to harm anyone. If anything I feel more connected and I want to help other feel that way as well. I live in a part of America that idols don’t even consider to be a part of the world, stuck behind a computer screen watching horrible fancams of idols I might not ever get to see in concert. I only get yo see pictures of fan meets, wishing and praying that I would one day get to be that close to my idols and tell them how much they have changed my life and how much they mean to me.

Which brings me to my point that that was once the original goal of a roleplayer. to talk to fans and so the fans would feel like their feelings and love for their favorite idol are not in vain. Sadly as time went on we lost sight of that goal and it twisted into something that is now seen as “identity theft” in a way. I don’t see any of the roleplayers I know in real life walking around with an ID and says “Yeah, I’m really this idol. Seriousy look.” No, that’s not what we do. We provide a sense of security with those who don’t get to have the luxury of shaking the hand of someone who’s changed their life.

Yes, I’m upset about this because in a way I feel like the RP community is being looked at as if we’re nothing but a group of criminals hell bent of taking over an idol’s life. IT’S FACEBOOK! People make fake GIRLFRIEND accounts for themselves all the time.

The companies don’t think being a roleplayer will help their company grow.

Actually it’s quite the opposite. Through roleplaying I have learned about other groups out there and have in turn enjoyed the music and the idol’s themselves the more I looked up the group, thus expanding their fan base and revenue by purchasing their CDs, photobooks, etc. It has also helped me learn and become more familiar with what is out there in the world.

Imitating an idol will bring harm, false rumors and might be acting disrespectful to the fans.

Psh, no false rumors have been spread, no harm has been done and if anything, fans will put that ______-anon in place. We are aware of the line between reality and imagination. We know that the person behind the anon is someone totally different from the idol themselves, though similar in behavior only to add to the illusion of feeling like you’re talking to not just an idol but them on a more human level rather than someone who is in all reality put on a pedestal and given God or Goddess like qualities. Idols are humans, too, and what we RPers do is bringing them down to that more human level. We make mistakes, yes, but who doesn’t? That’s all part of our charm.

So to all the companies that talk down on up RPers:

I’m going to keep roleplaying because I enjoy it. I will keep doing it because I know that I am not the only person who craves the same attention those local fans get. You all can just leave us alone, okay? Please. That’s all we ask is to just leave us alone. Let us wait umpteen million weeks for a CD that costs more than a pair of shoes we need, let us wait for that fancam of a concert we might never attend, and let us feel like we’re interacting with someone who means more to us than our own lives…
